Long time - new ride?
So here it is, almost 11 months from the end of FletchRide, and I’ve barely done anything sense with regards to the blog. For those who get this email, because you subscribed, I’m trying to think of another adventure.
This time, however, with some planning. And what’s more? Real money sent to a great cause.
So I challenge my followers, the couple who might get this, to...

Celebrating my 30th with generous gifts from...
Today is my 30th birthday and my original finishing date for FletchRide. I managed to finish 8 days early and spent the last week completely relaxing, or at least relaxing as much as my body would permit.
Now I am hoping my summer will have inspired others, opened hearts and minds and touched the generous nature of you who can offer a small (or large) donation to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights...
In Los Angeles, CA. 5075 miles.
Not much to say yet, but here I am. Wow.
Los Angeles. 5000 plus miles.
FletchRide rolls south again.
After a relaxing few days in San Francisco, I am about to hop on the bike again for a four to five day ride to LA, then a couple more days to San Diego. These last few days in San Francisco have helped to recharge my very weary body and lift my sagging spirit. I hope the positive effects of these days will carry over to my legs during the remainder of the ride.
I also wish to thank you all for...
Sometimes there isn't an easy answer.
Why haven’t there been any postings in the past couple weeks? Where are the day to day adventures recorded for the pleasure of a frustrated audience who regularly let me know of their wish to read more?
I am not offering an excuse, only a partial explanation. Please understand that there may be some details here that are difficult to explain, and challenging to open about in this psuedo...

Day 52 – Seattle!
I’m in Seattle! I have officially cycled across the United States of America. FletchRide has made it across the country! 3600 miles by the route I took. I can’t believe I made it to Seattle!
So I suppose I should describe this glorious day, as quite a lot occurred. I’ll be brief, or as brief as possible, to spare all the gory details.
Heading out at 7:00 am, I said goodbye to Maryann after...
Day 51 – A long tired ride to Wenatchee - Home of...
What a spectacular day. Brutal at times, with both incomprehensible dry and wet heat throughout the afternoon, and wonderful new random friends and scenery.
Starting early, I had hoped to get all the way to Leavenworth, WA, which is a little over 100 miles from Seattle, and the last town before the climb over Steven’s Pass. The sun was shining, the temperature was on the rise from about 55 in...
Day 50 – misery to Davenport.
Each day has positives and negatives, but sometimes you count your losses and try and forget. Today was one of those days.
Still elated with the idea I had ridden into Washington, everything seemed so positiv this morning. The day started wonderfully, with an enormous breakfast in the lobby, including French toast, waffles, cereal, conversation and the Today Show reporting that Tim Horton’s had...
Day 49 – Washington!
Last night’s rest was surprisingly comfortable considering that I was camping in the backyard of a house with pseudo permission. Figuring an early start was wise, I got up and packed quickly before riding up to the Priest’s River Hardwood Grill for breakfast. Some neighbors heading to church gave me some sideways glances, and I smiled and waved. Todd had said they began serving at 8, but I...
Day 48: Idaho and 30 random riders
Last nights rest was as hard a sleep as I can remember. Perhaps it was the steady and undulating hills of yesterday that wiped out my body, or perhaps it was the use of the Hammer Recoverite when I finished the day, or maybe both. And likely, the fact the mountain air dropped the overnight temperature to 41 degrees helped. Last night I thought I ate enough, but this morning I was famished, with...
Day 47 – a breath away from Idaho.
Well, the rest helped tremendously. While the pain is still present, my muscles are strong and powerful again and today’s ride was wonderful. The scenery is spectacular here and the views continually changing. The depressing recovery of the past 36 hours quickly vanished with some light climbs into the Kootenai River Country and the marvelous weather ringing in the weekend.
The ride was...
Day 45 – 46: Whitefish and Hammer Nutiriton
I stayed in the Whitefish/Kallispell area for two days, unintentionally, due to the leg issue. After the long climb and ride through Glacier National Park and a soak in the tub, my leg was still bothering me so I took my time, stretched and cleaned my equipment in the morning, before hitting a bike shop in town to get a once over and pick up some tubes (thank you three inch rusty nails on the...
